A Don King Production

After Mike Tyson’s release from prison in 1995, the world waited to see if the menacing former heavy weight champion could regain his form. First in line to greet Tyson was Don King, who would mastermind Iron Mike’s comeback. In his first fight back, Tyson would be matched up against “Hurricane” Peter McNeeley – a WBA top 20 ranked fighter. Pre-fight hype was off the charts. The fight itself was over in exactly 89 seconds. Big bets were won and the fight grossed a record $96 million. To almost everyone watching, the entire production seemed fishy. Brian Tuohy penned the story for Sports On Earth.
